End of Season

Its the end of the NCAA basketball season. The Kentucky Wild Cats ended the season the best they could, with a national title. I think the season went well, but not for Duke. I think Duke could have had a much better season than they did. They got beat out of the tournament in the 2nd round, which was a huge upset and unexpected. I know that coach K. could not have been happy about the way the season ended. It was a year for growth in the Duke program.

NCAA Bracket

My bracket is looking terrible right now. I think the two number 2 seeds getting beat out in the second round by a number 15 seed hurt it the worst along with everyone elses bracket. I only have one team that has made it to the Final Four, and I have them to take it all. Kentucky is looking really good right now and walked all over Baylor on Sunday. I need Kentucky to win if I want to want to be even close to winning. I think this years tourney has been interesting with some upsets. To bad South Dakota didn't make it a few more rounds.

Duke Loses?

Duke didnt play like I expected them to, or for that matter like anyone expected them to. Duke took a loss in the second round of the tournament to a team that I'v never heard of. Lehigh beat them 75-70 in the second round hurting many brakets. Duke was the second number 2 seed to be beat out in the second round.
Duke had two players that scored 19 points, Austin Rivers, and Mason Plumlee. This wasnt enough though as they lost by five. Duke was just out-played. The stats didnt show any significant differences besides the turnovers. Duke had 13 to Lehighs 8 turnovers. Duke even out-rebounded Lehigh 34 to 42. In my opinion, Duke didnt have all that great of a season.

Tournament Time

Duke has made it to the tournament! This is my favorite time of the basketball season. I am filling out my brackets, but dont have Duke going very far. I have a feeling that Duke will not make it past the 3rd round and get beat out by Baylor. They haven't played yet this year, but Baylor has been playing well. Duke finished this year 20-4 and finished 7-2 in the ACC, for a total of 27-6. They lost to Ohio State, Temple, Florida State twice, Miami, and North Carolina. I'm filling out my bracket and have a few upsets. I don't think this year will have to many though. I'm ready for the tournament to start.

Duke Looses

Duke took a loss to North Carolina on Saturday with a score of 88 to 70. They were down almost the entire game and couldn't seem to come back. A loss by eighteen is unusual for Duke. That is not a good way to end the last regular season game. North Carolina had 5 players in double digits and Duke had 4. Duke was out rebounded by a big number wich hurt them alot. U.N.C. had a total of 45 rebounds to Duke's 28. This gives U.N.C. second chances at shots and on offense. Duke will start March Madness on Thursday. The games are TBA and all played at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga. I think Duke will do well in the tournament, and hopefully they do.

Duke has come out with another two wins over Boston College and Florida State. Boston College wasn't much of a challenge as they won 75-50. They finnally didnt have to come back from being behind. Eventhough Duke didn't have the high scorer they still managed to pull out a win. The high scorer of the game was Ryan Anderson for Boston with 21 points. Boston didnt have many players score wich hurts were as Duke had many scoreres. I couldnt find the stats for the Florida State game. Florida lost to Duke 70-64 in Florida giving Duke another win on the rode.

Season Winding Down

Dukes last game was last Thursday against N.C. State. Duke got off with a win finishing 78-73. Duke was down In the beginning of the game and came back with a hard fought win. They have been cutting a lot of the games close lately making it interesting for the fans. Seth Curry was the high scorer of the game and for Duke with a total of 26 points. Seth shot 12 for 26 from the field and was 100% from the line. The high scorer for N.C. State was Lorenzo Brown with a total of 19 points. Brown shot 50% from the field and 4-6 from the line.Dukes season is coming to an end. They have 5 games left before they start March Madness on March 8th. Dukes next game is tonight against Boston College at 6. Duke is currently ranked number 4.

Duke goes 1-1 for the week

Duke played Virginia Tech Saturday and walked away with a win. The final score was 75-60. Austin Rivers was the high scorer for Duke and for the game with a total of 18 points. Austin went 11-17 from the field and didn’t shoot any free throws. Duke out-rebounded Virginia 33 to 29 which hurts a team. Turnovers hurt Virginia as well as they had 13 to dukes 7. Erick Green was the high scorer for Virginia with a total of 17 points, shooting 7-13 from the field. Erick also shot 4-4 from the line.

After beating Virginia, Duke lost to Miami 74-78. Reggie Johnson of Miami was the high scorer for the game scoring a total of 27 points. He shot 11-18 from the field and 50% from the line. Duke was out-rebounded 48-43, hurting them along with 11 turnovers. This loss puts Dukes record at 19-4, and 6-2 in the ACC. Dukes next game is Wednesday, February 8, against North Carolina.

Mason Plumlee was the high scorer on Wednesday against Maryland with 23 total points. He helped duke to a 74-61 win over Maryland. Duke outplayed Maryland all around. They out rebounded Maryland 36-31 and rebounding is a big factor in winning a game. Duke was 94% from the line and Maryland shot terrible from the line at 54%. Terrell Stoglin was the high scorer for Maryland with a total of 16 points. Terrell was 7-18 from the field and 2 for 7 from the line.

Duke played St. Johns Saturday after Maryland. Duke walking away with an 83-76 win. Moe Harkless from St. Johns was the high scorer of the game with a total of 30 points. Harkless was 14-25 from the field 3 for 6 from the line. Ryan Kelly was the high scorer for Duke in the game with a total of 16 points. He went 3-7 from the field and 10-12 from the line. Duke’s next game will be Thursday, February 2, against Virginia Tech.  

Duke Takes A Loss

Duke picked up a win against Wake Forest on Thursday scoring 91 points to wake Forest’s 73. Dawkins and Rivers together had 10 3-pointers for the game. Duke as a team had a total of 11 3-pointers in the game. In that game, the school record was reached with 7 3-pointers by Dawkins. Duke turned around Saturday and lost to Florida State which put an end to their home winning streak. Rivers tied up the game with 5 seconds left with a crazy layup. The score was 73-73, when Snaer went down court hitting a last second 3 pointer to win the game for Florida 76-73.

The Blue Devils next game will be Wednesday on the road against Maryland. Duke is ranked 4^th right now according to ESPN College Basketball Poll. They have a record of 16-3 and have one loss in the ACC. They have some good competition this year and have had and interesting season.

Duke Beats Clemson

 Duke fought for a win Sunday night over Clemson, with a score of 73-66. A key player for the game was Andre Dawkins, who only started the last 16 of 91 games for Duke. He dropped a total of 24 points on Clemson with five 3-pointers. It’s important for a team to have a player that can come off the bench and play well and Dawkins pulled his weight for this game. Mason Plumlee scored 12 points and cook scored 10 points. They also pulled off a win Thursday over Virginia. Duke’s record for the season is 15-2, and they have not lost a game in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Dukes next game is against Wake Forest on Thursday, 19 in Durham.
